About this experience
Want to see a different side of Lisbon? Not the one where a tout stands outside a restaurant beckoning you in with a sign that reads 'Typical Portuguese Food.' Rather, the areas where locals mostly reside, with scarce hotels and a relaxed pace of life. Where elderly Portuguese come out to the courtyard to play a game of cards, and well-groomed elderly gentlemen gossip on benches or in cafes. I will show you the places that locals love to visit, squares where they relax, schools, parks - all that remains outside the guidebooks.
What to Expect
Lisbon's Stories
We will explore the districts of Estrela and Campo de Ourique. During the walk through these areas, you will learn:
- that the aqueduct is much larger and longer than it appears at first glance
- where the best parties of the 19th century took place, attended even by kings
- how Portugal became a Republic
- where the most beloved garden of Lisbon locals is located
- what a crazy queen can build.
Additionally, you will see the most mystical castle in Portugal and an open-air portfolio of sculptors and architects. Finally, you will enjoy the best view of the 25 de Abril Bridge from the observation deck.
