About this experience
Do you know what's the best thing about Portugal? Travelers have no stereotypes about it – and this helps to see the place with fresh eyes. On my easy stroll you will understand what Lisbon is for you, and then overlay your impressions on the historical and cultural thread. We will walk along the central street, alleys, and waterfront, admire the azulejos and views, feel this city!
About the idea of my walk
When you go to Italy, you know you will eat pizza, admire ruins, and drink wine. In Spain, you are awaited by paella, sangria, and the incredible Gaudi. In France, you should start the morning with a croissant, climb the Eiffel Tower, and perhaps buy something from couture. And what about Portugal? This country and its capital do not evoke such associations in most travelers. That's why on my walk, I suggest you form your own opinion about Lisbon, perceive it without stereotypes – and only then get to know it better.
What to expect
See the face of Lisbon
Step by step, getting inspired by this city, you will discover its chronicles, cultural features, gastronomy, and modern life. I will tell you about the most popular neighborhoods, sights, and offbeat places. About who the Portuguese are and why they became great navigators.
Squares, streets, azulejos!
In the city of hills, we will meet at an observation point in Eduardo VII Park – to admire the panorama of the whole city and plan our future route. We will discuss where on the Lisbon square stands the monument to the English king. We will trace the history of Portugal and talk about its relationships with other countries through the ages.
We will walk to Lisbon's central street – the elegant Avenida da Liberdade – and head to the Tagus River waterfront. Along the way, we will look at iconic mansions, delve into alleys, and study azulejos (if you have children with you, I will prepare them game cards). And at Rossio Square, we will visit the observation deck of a hotel.
In the final part, you will see the excavations of Roman baths in an unexpected place and observe the statue of Christ on the opposite shore.
