About this experience
The food of Istanbul is as much its 'business card' as mosques and palaces. During this walk, you will appreciate Turkish cuisine from coffee to mussels, strolling through the neighborhoods of Nisantasi, Besiktas, and Ortakoy - ancient, prestigious, and photogenic. Learn about the city's history, its culture, lifestyle, and tastes - in 4 hours you will savor non-touristic Istanbul!
What to expect
Istanbul beyond Sultanahmet
This friendly walk will start in one of the most fashionable neighborhoods of the city: here, in Nisantasi, you will observe the life of secular Istanbul, walk along well-kept streets with 19th-century architecture and boutiques, while I will tell you how the rich and famous Istanbulites live. After exploring the local Manhattan, we will relax in the garden of a little-known but beautiful sultan's palace. Descending towards the Bosphorus, we will stroll through a very green area and end up on the Ortakoy waterfront. Here, you will admire the Bosphorus Bridge from one of the best angles, while I will tell you about the mysteries of an elegant mosque.
Istanbul on the palate
I will complement stories about the city’s past and present with gastronomic stops. In a luxurious garden, you will enjoy delicious Turkish coffee with a dessert prepared according to an Ottoman recipe. I will show you the best places to get acquainted with the national cuisine in an ancient and prestigious gourmet paradise - for example, you will try kokorec, shawarma in bread. And in the final part of the gastro-adventure, you will be treated to traditional Turkish soup and, of course, mussels in garlic sauce by the Bosphorus.
