About this experience
On this tour, you will discover Lucca - the only free republic that did not submit to the Medici dynasty, and simply a quiet and elegant corner of Tuscany. We will stroll through winding streets, frozen in time, discuss the traditions of the locals, admire the Baroque villas, and taste unique wine. Rest assured: you will be captivated by the 'little Florence' at the foot of the Apennines.
What to expect
Walk in the Middle Ages
First, we will explore the historical part of Lucca: we will walk through its old quarters, stroll along the fortress walls, talk about the city's brilliant past and modern life. And then we will head out of the city, towards the mountains, to admire the marvel of early medieval engineering - the Devil's Bridge over the Serchio River.
Wine tasting at the Baroque villa
Then you will be introduced to a new, popular trend in European winemaking and taste biodynamic (natural) wines at a historic noble villa surrounded by Tuscan landscapes. You will try wines made without a gram of chemistry, following the rhythms of nature - the moon, the sun, and the planets. Complementing the tasting will be the fascinating interior details of the villa - from a stone washing machine and a family chapel to Baroque-style furniture and a piano loved to be played by a frequent guest of the villa - Giacomo Puccini.
The route can also be diversified by visiting a three-hundred-year-old forge in the forest and/or a picturesque thermal town in the mountains.
