About this experience
This tour is for travelers who have already seen all the major sights and now want to look at Vienna from a different perspective. You will take a walk through the streets of the Old Town away from the beaten tourist paths. You will see what is hidden from the average eye, visit unusual places, peek into the home of a mythical basilisk, and witness a wedding ceremony under the chimes of the Viennese musical clock Anker.
What to expect
Mysterious places and secret nooks
You will stroll through picturesque courtyards and the medieval zigzag street Balgasse, see a cafe with working cats, walk through a street of bakers, and the Bloody Street. You will visit the Franciscan Square, Vienna's newest square (only 200 years old). Here lives the opera diva Anna Netrebko, and the smallest cafe in Vienna is located here. You will also see an active Masonic lodge, the Church of the Teutonic Order and the Order of the Golden Fleece, Mozart's house, the Church of the Jesuits, and the oldest university in German-speaking countries.
Extraordinary facts, legends, and curiosities
During this adventure tour, you will learn why Austria's largest cathedral remains unfinished, why emperors were divided into three parts after their deaths, and where the entrails of Austrian rulers are kept. You will judge for yourself whether the favorite disciple of Jesus resembles a girl and find out why fans of Dan Brown are closest to unraveling the mysterious Da Vinci Code here. I will show you where the Templars fought to bloody rivers and tell you how to join a Masonic lodge. Additionally, you will discover where a cow, wearing glasses, plays dominoes with a donkey, and see a dome that doesn't exist. The tour will end in the legendary tavern, where the drunkard-Augustin sang his song: 'Oh my dear Augustin, Augustin, Augustin'.
