If you are interested not only in enjoying nature but also in understanding its specifics, delving into the history of exploration, geology, mineralogy - then we are on the same page! As an ecologist, I will guide you through beautiful places and introduce you to them in an interactive format.
What to Expect
More than just trekking
During the hike, I will truly introduce you to the Khibiny Mountains: their toponyms, history of exploration, geology, mineralogy, flora, and ecology. The excursion is conducted in an interactive format: it includes games, tasks, and discussions on any interesting topics.
Our Route
- We start from Tirvas Sanatorium - it’s a stone's throw from the Khibiny Mountains
- We will see local "geysers" - hydrological wells
- We will cross the Vudyavr River - the water will be knee-deep, so everyone can handle it!
- We will admire the picturesque waterfall, mountains, circus-shaped valleys, scree slopes, and a lake
- We will find a steam engine produced in Chicago
- We will visit molybdenum mines, where in the depths we will observe the mineral sodalite, glowing in the UV spectrum
Route Duration - 6-8 km with an elevation gain of 430 m. The path goes along a good dirt road, but to reach the mines, you will have to climb over rocks.
Who is this tour suitable for
For people with basic physical fitness, there are no difficult sections. The recommended age for children is from 10 years old.
Organizational Details
- The duration of the tour depends on your pace. On average, it is 4-5 hours, maximum - 6. In winter - 3 hours.
- Part of the route goes through a specially protected area of the botanical garden, a pass is required. I will take care of this issue. All I need is the full names of all participants.
