About this experience
We are the residents of Oman. This means we have knowledge of the local culture that is inaccessible to most guests in Muscat. For a few hours, we will immerse you in the secret world of the capital. We will show you the main attractions and hidden gems. We will become kind genies from Eastern tales and fulfill the cherished wish of travelers: to reveal the true country - in all its colors and contrasts.
What to expect
- Oman's history and introduction to its traditions - both ancient and non-obvious. You will learn how modern Muscat was created and built. How the people living here combine the old and the new. And how Arab, African, and Indian cultures coexist peacefully on the same territory.
- Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque - a magnificent symbol of the Renaissance era for the once great Arab civilization. You will understand why a woman in Oman is NOT the shadow of a man, but a full member of Islamic society. You will learn what Spain and French Catholics have to do with it. You will hear a funny legend about the role bacteria played in making the world's largest carpet.
- Royal Opera House, which is not quite an opera, but rather a center for the cultural development of the Omani Sultanate. You will see several unique musical instruments and wind instruments from the Sultan's personal collection. And you will also learn about the serious influence of Omani dowry chests on room design.
- Muttrah district - the heart of Muscat. We will head there along the seaside road lined with mangrove trees. You will enjoy the beautiful waterfront and the Sultan's yachts, savor the scents of frankincense and other Arabian fragrances at the local market.
- Central street of Muttrah. We will discuss the history of the merchant class of the country. We will examine ancient Arabian doors, which are a distinct part of Arabian culture. We will look for precious souvenirs - gold for women, silver for men.
- Royal part of old Muttrah. You will be surrounded by the history of ancient dynasties. When visiting the Al Zubair family home, you will learn how one of the richest men of his time lived and what priceless gift he gave to the people of Oman.
- Al Alam Palace and the Omani "Red Square" with a beautiful architectural complex, each with its own interesting history. On the shore of the Gulf of Oman, we will admire the swift seagulls basking in the sun, crabs, and if we are lucky, we will see turtles lazily swaying on the waves.
