What to Expect
Medieval Life in Skofja Loka
From the first minutes of our journey through the streets of Skofja Loka, you will be drawn into a whirlwind of medieval stories and legends. We will start with a walk through the Lower Town: I will explain why the residents of the Lower and Upper Towns never united through marriage, and share interesting details about the life of the townspeople and the customs of past centuries. Then we will ascend to the upper part of Skofja Loka - to the local aristocrats and landmarks. You will see the town hall, painted facades of houses, a beautiful fountain, and hear the story of the local Moor, 'Arab Peter I', who made it to the city's coat of arms. In the ancient castle where German bishops once resided, you will be able to unravel a medieval murder!
Secrets of Non-Touristy Slovenia
Skofja Loka has been a center of attraction for outstanding Slovenes for centuries: millionaires, scholars, and creative intelligentsia. Here you can enjoy aromatic coffee with the most delicious tiramisu and homemade ice cream, which often lure visitors from Ljubljana to Skofja Loka. Have lunch in an authentic Slovenian tavern, where the show 'Let's Go, Eat!' was filmed. And I will gladly share interesting details and secrets of non-touristy Slovenia with you, so you can see the medieval town through the eyes of the locals.
