About this experience
Prague is not only cozy streets and medieval churches: the National Gallery houses hundreds of masterpieces from around the world! You will visit one of its buildings and immerse yourself in the history of painting from a specific era. I will be your guide in the world of art, telling you about famous artists and helping you see more in the paintings than just landscapes, portraits, or still lifes.
What to Expect
One exhibition - one era
The National Gallery has several buildings located in different parts of the city. Each of them contains works of one style or era. Dürer, Titian, Tintoretto, Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso - these are just a few names of great masters whose works are presented in the gallery. Depending on your interests, we will choose a specific exhibition:
- In the gallery of medieval painting, you will learn about the biblical canon - by the end of the tour, you will be able to read stories perfectly and understand iconography.
- In the gallery of Old Masters, we will talk about the Northern Renaissance and pay special attention to Albrecht Dürer's painting 'Madonna with Beads.' I will also show you works by Lucas Cranach the Elder and Bronzino: his portrait of Eleanor of Toledo is a gem of the Prague collection.
- You will get acquainted with Czech masters in the Baroque gallery and the modern collection. For many of my visitors, their works become favorites.
- The exhibition of 19th-20th-century painting includes works of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists. We will examine Van Gogh's 'Wheat Field with Cypresses' - one of his last paintings - and the famous self-portrait 'Bonjour, Monsieur Gauguin' will tell you about the artist's personality.
After my tour, you will discover Prague also as a city of art!
