About this experience
Why did Leonardo da Vinci paint two identical paintings? Whose image was Raphael trying to capture in his Madonnas? And why do we repeatedly peer into religious plots and heroes from ancient myths and legends? I will answer these and other questions at the National Gallery, where world masterpieces are kept: works by Botticelli, Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Titian.
What to expect
A walk through the centuries
We will start our journey from the pre-Renaissance - the works of Cimabue, Giotto, and Duccio, who laid the foundations of the new art. Passing through the halls, we will trace the transformation of artistic approaches. The paintings of Masaccio and Paolo Uccello will show how the art of Florence evolved and how linear perspective emerged, and Jan van Eyck's creation will show how oil paints were perfected. I will tell you about the vivid life of the model in the painting 'Venus and Mars' and about the artist Botticelli, who repeated the ups and downs of his native city in his fate. You will visit halls with works by Raphael, Michelangelo, and Titian, whose creations were sometimes so candid for that time that they were covered in the presence of ladies.
What the author wanted to say
The masters of the High Renaissance managed to put together a puzzle of the spiritual and physical halves of a person. Their paintings will tell us how beautiful we can be in harmony of these principles. You will learn about the symbols and special language of artists, the biographies of the masters, their life adventures, and the influence of masterpieces on cinema and literature. And in the cozy museum cafe, we will share our impressions of the tour with each other. We will also discuss the latest news and rumors in the art world - another mysterious disappearance of the painting 'Salvator Mundi,' the most expensive one today.
