About this experience
In the evening, the Sicilian capital resembles a city from the tales of 'One Thousand and One Nights'. You will stroll through its central streets and squares and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of medieval Arab and Norman Palermo. I will tell you the most interesting facts from the city's rich history and help you feel its rhythm and character!
What to Expect
Iconic sights in a new light
You will walk through the historical center and enjoy the splendid ancient architecture in the evening illumination. The excursion program includes:
- Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where the relics of Saint Rosalia, the city's patron saint, are kept. You will be impressed by the elegance of the decorative elements.
- Vittorio Emanuele Street, where you will hear the secrets and legends of this ancient promenade and learn its ancient name.
- Praetorian Square will reveal the magnificence of the Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini, the baroque splendor of the Fountain of Shame and the Senatorial Palace, the beauty of the Renaissance facade of the Church of Santa Caterina D'Alessandria.
- Bellini Square will immerse you in the atmosphere of medieval Arabic tales and showcase three incredible churches at once: the eclectic Martorana, the Islamic San Cataldo with red domes, and the austere Renaissance Santa Caterina.
- Massimo Theater - the third largest theater in Europe, built in the 19th century by the architect Basile. I will help you find elements of ancient Sicilian architecture and Greek temples in it.
- Seafront - the place of burning infidels during the Spanish Inquisition. Today, a luxurious Garibaldi park spreads out here, where you can, if you wish, find the oldest tree in Europe.
- La Cala Port - the place where the city was born. These days, it is a picturesque bay where locals and travelers stroll through the nights.
