About this experience
We will drive to two picturesque Armenian villages: Arinj and Bzhni. Despite their small size, there is truly a lot to see! You will walk through the ruins of an ancient fortress, visit the Church of the Holy Mother of God, admire the natural arch-tunnel, and explore a cave created by the hands of just one man.
What to Expect
Levon's Cave-Museum
In the village of Arinj, we will visit an amazing place - Levon's seven-room cave, carved by the local master Levon. Over 23 years, he painstakingly created walls, ceilings, corridors, windows, and doorways by hand, carved stone patterns, and worked on new ideas. You will learn what inspired him for this grand project, what tools he used, and the functional purpose of the cave.
Bzhni Village: Fortress, Ancient Church, and Arch-Tunnel
We will stroll through the X-century fortress, examining the surviving parts of walls, temples, and palace rooms. Enjoy scenic views and talk about the role of the fortress in the Middle Ages. Additionally, I will show you the Church of the Holy Mother of God and how it saved people during the Mongol invasions. You will also see the unusual basalt arch-tunnel, taste mineral water from a spring, and relax by the Razdan River.
