About this experience
Join us on a journey to Southern Azerbaijan! We will visit two very different regions. Lankaran and its surroundings are a tropical paradise where tea and citrus fruits grow. Lerik, on the border with Iran, is a hidden world in the mountains with emerald forests, waterfalls, and swift rivers. You will also get to experience the southern cuisine. Try lyavangi, oven-baked bread, and much more.
What to Expect
Lankaran: Lake, Tea Plantation, and More
You will appreciate the city's landmarks: the monument to Major General Asa Aslanov, the historical lighthouse, the railway station, the Khan's Palace, and the "Samovar Circle" monument. You will also visit a tea plantation to see how local tea is grown and learn about its varieties. We will tell you about the role of tea in Azerbaijani life. Additionally, you will visit Lake Hanbulan, located deep in the Talysh Mountains, which will enchant you with its charming views.
Lerik: Waterfalls and Longevity Museum
The road to mountainous Lerik passes through the Hirkan National Park - get ready for fantastic views! On the way, you will see the mausoleum of Bobogil, where a military leader and preacher from the 15th century is buried. In Lerik itself, you will visit the Longevity Museum, which reveals the secrets of the robust health of local residents. You will also admire the waterfalls "Maiden" and "Youth", beautifully located amidst the forest.
Introduction to National Cuisine
For a traditional breakfast, you will stop at an authentic restaurant amidst desert-like sandy landscapes. And for lunch - in a recreation area on the slopes of a turbulent mountain river. You will be served specialties of Lankaran cuisine: several varieties of lyavangi (dishes with original local stuffing), walnut omelette, salad, village bread-tendir, and delicious homemade compote.
Buzeyir Caves
High in the mountains of Lerik is one of the most mesmerizing points of our route - a giant mountain massif with centuries-old caves that extend deep into the slope. The views surrounding these caves evoke sincere admiration, which can only be felt when alone with nature. The narrow road, seemingly cut inside the slope, only adds to the place's unique charm.
Viewing Platform
At the crossroads between Lankaran and Lerik, we will stop at a picturesque viewing platform. A small stream flowing at the foot of the platform only enhances the overall charm of this place. Here, you will appreciate the natural beauty of Lerik and enjoy the refreshing coolness.
