What to expect
Ancient heritage
Behind the fortress walls of Icheri Sheher, which translates from Azerbaijani as the 'Inner City,' you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient history. The Maiden Tower is shrouded in numerous legends, the labyrinth of cobblestone streets will enchant you with architectural masterpieces of the Middle Ages, and Baku doors, authentic shops, and spread-out carpets will help you feel the color of Old Baku.
Stories of old and not so old years
You will visit the residence of the rulers of the Shirvan state – the Palace of the Shirvanshahs. Examining the architectural complex – the palace itself, the Divan-khana courtyard, the mosque, and baths, you will learn about the history of Shirvan and admire the modern Flame Towers from one of the best angles. Walking through the Old City, following in Nikulin's footsteps, you will appreciate the colorful Baku stories, legends, and tales. You will admire the facades of buildings from that time – the houses of the Sadikhov brothers, the luxurious Mukhtarov Palace, the Tagiyev Passage, the houses of the Karaevs and Assadullaevs. A pleasant rest will be a visit to the Governor's Garden with a picturesque fountain, and nearby you will see the elegant Philharmonic Hall.
Tea at a bird's-eye view
