Kolomna from the car window
You will see elegant merchant mansions and squares of the historical center. Drive along one of Russia's oldest roads - the Astrakhan highway. Learn about the history and modernity of the city. See its symbols - the steam locomotive "Victory" and missile arms. Find out why Kolomna was a closed object until 1996. Admire the confluence of the Moscow and Oka rivers. I will also tell you who and at which enterprise produced the first tram in the Russian Empire and the world's first river towing steamboat.
Luhovitsy - famous cucumbers and more!
As you pass through the city on the way from Kolomna to Zaraysk, you will get acquainted with the history of the former ancient village, learn about the ancient activities of the locals, and how Peter the Great was remembered here. You will see a monument to the cucumber feeder, Pechkin and Matroskin, as well as a rare wooden church from the 18th century. Moreover, we will talk about two special enterprises, the mystery of Russia's third capital, and the origin of the local Wobli River's name.
Ancient Zaraysk
Finally, you will visit the city that is a year older than Moscow. Take a walk through the Kremlin's territory, see the church where the miraculous icon of Nicholas of Zaraysk is preserved. Hear the story of its appearance here, as well as the legend of the Ryazan Prince Fedor and his beautiful wife Evpraksiya. Visit an 18th-century church with a unique 7-tier iconostasis of that time. Drive through the old merchant streets and diamond-shaped squares. Taste the signature Zaraysk kovrizhka. Explore the water tower shaped like an Italian jonque. And visit a holy spring that has been healing local residents since the 13th century.
