The state of Karnataka is rich in unique religious centers. In this journey, you will visit places where, according to legend, one of the three main gods of the Hindu pantheon first appeared to the world. You will see the majestic statue of Shiva, the tallest gopuram tower in Asia, and authentic temples, Brahmins, and sacred white bulls. An ideal place to better understand one of the key currents of Hinduism, which we will tell you about in an accessible and engaging way.
Itinerary
- Traditional Indian breakfast at a restaurant.
- Transfer to the neighboring state of Karnataka, to the city of Murdeshwar.
You will learn about the history of local relics and discover the main aspects of Shaivism, one of the fundamental directions of Hinduism. Visit the temple complex and admire the grandeur of the world's largest Shiva statue (37 meters). Explore whole storylines from the history of the Hindu deity at the wax figure museum. Climb the tallest gopuram in Asia, an 84-meter temple tower. You will also learn about the worship of the Shiva Lingam, revered as a symbol of generative power, as one of the five fragments of the sacred stone is kept in Murdeshwar. - Transfer to Gokarna.
Next on the itinerary is the ancient city of temples and a major pilgrimage center for Hindus. It is believed that it was here that Shiva first appeared to the world. You will visit the temples of the sacred village, interact with local Brahmins, and observe traditional rituals - we will talk separately about the most important rituals, their significance, and the rules. And of course, you will hear stories about the sacred bull Nandini, a faithful companion and servant of Shiva. - Transfer to Palolem Beach.
To wrap up, you will have the opportunity to relax by the beach, take a swim, and optionally have lunch at one of the local cafes.
