About this experience
Hampi is the most impressive ancient temple complex that can be reached from Goa. In the 14-16th centuries, it was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire: since those times, many wonderful palaces and temples have been preserved. You will explore them in detail and hear their history. A bonus to visiting Hampi will be a visit to the Little Tibet settlement, where you will learn about the life of Tibetan monks in India.
What awaits you
Day 1. Little Tibet and sunset in Hampi
Little Tibet is a ten-thousand-strong settlement of Tibetan monks in the state of Karnataka. You will uncover the history of its formation and touch local life. You will observe the service in the monastery, visit the monks' dwellings, and see how their lives are organized. You will visit the school and learn how the law of continuity is observed there. And then we will head to Hampi: you will see the temples of Ganesha, the ancient women's bath, and the Narasimha temple. The culmination of the day will be watching the sunset on Hemakuta Hill.
Day 2. Sunrise and excursion in Hampi
You will enjoy the sunrise and set off to explore the remaining part of the temple complex in Hampi - all in the morning before the heat arrives. We will show you the Vitthala temple, the Lotus Palace, and the Hazara Rama temple, where the royal family conducted services. Additionally, we will watch monks chanting mantras in Sanskrit together. Optionally, you can play along with them on ancient instruments.
