About this experience
This ride is for the romantics. Romantics in love with Rome, with each other, with horses, and with life. You will set off on the Appian Way - one of Rome's most important archaeological sites. Once it was a significant transport artery of the Great Roman Empire. It remembers many mysterious events and holds many secrets, which I will tell you about in this little adventure.
This encounter happened by chance many years ago. I just saw her deep dark mysterious eyes, and the world divided into 'before' and 'after'... Her name was Lucretia. It took me just a couple of moments to understand that this passion is forever... Passion for these beautiful noble animals, capable of sharing their energy with humans selflessly. Passion for horses.
The ancient Appian Way is a wonderful corner of nature, history, and architecture, untouched by centuries, and that's why I want to offer you our leisurely horseback ride here.
What to Expect
The journey will start at the Colli Albani metro station, from where we will take a comfortable car to the famous 'Cavalleri del-Appipa Antica' riding school, where champions in various disciplines were raised. Here, together with a professional instructor, I will teach you how to saddle a horse and handle it while riding.
During practice, you will try basic movements, refine your posture, and, filled with positive emotions, you will ride on horseback along the Ancient Appian Way and the Caffarella Park. I will tell you many interesting things about this cultural-historical heritage and, of course, about horses!
Thanks to this ride, you will learn about life in Ancient Rome and - I am sure - will love these wonderful horses as much as I do!
Organizational Details
- Includes: transportation to the riding school and back to the metro station, learning the basics of horseback riding, a tour along the Ancient Appian Way
- Additional expenses: one-time insurance, rental of horses and additional accessories (together with insurance 30€ per person)
- The ride will be conducted with a professional instructor and on horses with calm temperaments, specially trained for rides. If you are with inexperienced children, I will lead their horse by the reins, so both adults and children can enjoy the experience.
- Choose loose and comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement. It is important that the footwear has a sufficiently firm sole.
