About this experience
Gyumri will amaze you with its dramatic history. It has seen years of trade prosperity, wars, and devastating earthquakes. Nevertheless, there is still much to see! I will show you the historic houses, squares, and churches that have been preserved. I will talk about the city's modern life, its cultural events, and development prospects.
What to Expect
Getting to Know Gyumri
You will walk through Gyumri's historical center and see its iconic locations: Vardanants Square, the Armenian Seven Wounds Church, and the merchant houses belonging to the Keshishyan and Dzitoghtsyan families. You will discover the street art by local artists in the styles of Bosch and Matisse, hear the history of the Russian Plpan Zhan Church, and learn about the interesting events that have taken place in the city. And if you wish, you can visit the house-museums of the actor Mger Mkrtchyan and the poet Avetik Isahakyan.
Market, Barber Shop, and Brewery
Gyumri cannot be called a typical tourist city. The main attraction here is not the sights but the atmosphere - cozy, friendly, and hospitable. Following this, we will visit the colorful market where you will observe welcoming vendors and learn about the goods most in demand among the locals. To fully immerse yourself in local life, we will visit an old brewery and a Soviet-style barber shop with original design and equipment.
Organizational Details
