About this experience
Contemporary art can often be off-putting because we don't understand it. Many are used to admiring a portrait of a stranger and a woman with grapes, and involuntarily grimace at the sight of the 'Black Square'. The Tate Modern Gallery is the salvation from this plight. After the tour, you will be able to navigate the waves of conceptual art more confidently or, at the very least, not be afraid to look at it and form your own opinion.
What to Expect
Inside Tate Modern
The Tate Modern Gallery is the most visited attraction in the UK. Over 5 million people pass through its hospitable doors each year. Two buildings, thousands of square meters, and numerous floors. How not to get lost in this space and not miss all the most interesting and important things? I know Tate like the back of my hand and will be happy to help you navigate it and spend time not only fun but also with benefit.
Immersing into the World of Contemporary Art
The tour will begin with a detailed analysis of several paintings created by artists at the beginning of the 20th century, helping to understand the origins of abstraction. In addition, we will talk about conceptual art, minimalism, contemporary sculpture, installations, performance art, and of course, museum photography. Works by Mondrian, Goncharova, Picasso, Rivera, Matisse, Klein, Rothko, and many others will accompany us.
All the Key Questions
How are Russian, American, and European art different? Is there a difference between works by men and women? What materials can be used for sculpture in the 21st century? How to decipher cubism? What is conceptual photography? How to perceive a performance if no one sings or dances in front of us? How to look at a blue square? Together, we will find answers to these and many other questions from the category 'everything you wanted to know about contemporary art but were afraid to ask'.
London from Above
Summing up, we will discuss the favorite works, take photos in the most beautiful corners of the gallery, and also go up to the observation deck with wonderful views. St. Paul's Cathedral, 'The Shard', 'Gherkin', 'Walkie-Talkie', 'Cucumber', and Westminster Abbey – all these architectural brands will be presented before you as if on the palm of your hand.
Who the Tour is For
On my tours, I am happy to welcome guests of all ages and any level of knowledge: beginners and connoisseurs, adults and children. Each tour will be planned and conducted according to your requests and wishes.
