About this experience
Stories of monarchs and commoners, architectural gems, and idyllic landscapes, events of the Arab conquest and the Reconquista - this journey will allow you to feel the true spirit of Granada. The route will take you through the main churches and monasteries that will gradually reveal their secrets to you. Together we will explore the role they played in defending the city and discover hidden architectural masterpieces.
What to Expect
The tour covers the most prominent religious sites in Granada - cathedrals, churches, and monasteries. Observing their decorations, you will get acquainted with three architectural styles: Renaissance, Andalusian Baroque, and Gothic. I will share local legends, tell stories about the construction of the temples, and reveal the fates of famous figures closely connected to them. Along the route, we will encounter:
- The famous Granada Cathedral will amaze you with its grandeur and solemnity. It is the first cathedral in Spain built in the Renaissance style, uniting several architectural trends.
- The church known as The Royal Chapel of Granada, where the famous Spanish monarchs Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile rest, who completed the Reconquista and united Spain into one state.
- Saint Jerome Monastery - one of the most revered landmarks in the city of Granada. It is dedicated to Saint Jerome, one of the pillars of the Catholic Church.
- Granada Charterhouse Monastery - a vivid example of Andalusian Baroque, or the second Alhambra. Modest on the outside, but so luxurious inside!
