About this experience

What to Expect
Lapa District or the former "Brazilian Montmartre". On a stroll through the neighborhood, I will tell you about its bohemian past, the era of stagnation, and its transformation into the center of nightlife and eternal leisure. Here you will see the famous colorful Selaron Stairs - a gift from a Chilean artist to the Brazilian people. If desired, you can visit one of the bars, try street food, and closer to the evening, listen to reggae or dance samba.
Religious landmarks of the city. You will see Nossa Senhora do Carmo, where the remains of Brazil's discoverer Pedro Alvares Cabral are located. You will hear an interesting legend about the origins of the Candelaria Church. Be amazed by the view of the Cathedral built in a modern style. In the Carioca district, you will get acquainted with the ancient Monastery of St. Anthony, one of the main attractions of Rio de Janeiro's colonial history.
Important historical and cultural sites. We will stroll through 15th of November Square and you will learn why it's named that way. You will visit the Imperial Palace - the former residence of Brazil's emperors, where the country's first constitution was written. In the Sinelange area near the beautiful building of the Municipal Theater, I will tell you about the city's theatrical life. I will also show you the National Museum of Fine Arts, which houses a large number of exhibitions from different eras, from the Middle Ages to the present day.
After the walk, you will have a holistic understanding of Rio de Janeiro's downtown. You will understand how complex historical events are tightly woven into every street and building, and how extremes harmoniously blend in it, making it one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
