About this experience
You will see the most interesting places of Chișinău and learn why it is called the 'city of white stone' and how it managed to become one of the greenest European capitals. Additionally, I will tell you about the people who influenced the city's history and share interesting facts about modern life in Moldova.
What to Expect
Main Highlights of Chișinău!
All the 'postcard' landmarks of Chișinău are included: Stefan cel Mare Park, the Triumphal Arch, the Parliament and Government buildings, the Presidential Palace, and the Academy of Sciences. You will learn when the city was first mentioned in chronicles, which nationalities inhabited it, what role the Russian Empire played in local urban planning, and why almost everyone still speaks Russian here.
Chișinău and Outstanding Personalities
I will talk about famous individuals related to Chișinău: pianist Rubinstein, professor Sklifosovsky, and the 'banana magnate' Samuel Zemurray. I will also dispel some myths floating around the city. For example, you will find out if it is true that King Arthur was born here and Pushkin was exiled to this place twice. The acquaintance with sunny Moldova will end with a wine tasting at one of the city's wineries.
