About this experience
If you have already admired the historic center of Rome, marveled at and photographed the Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain, and are looking for something unusual and different from the standard shots for your photo album, then this walk is for you!
Garbatella is a district of Rome that is absolutely unlike any of the central neighborhoods of the city. It was founded on February 18, 1920, and according to the project, an ideal English-style city-garden was supposed to grow here. This is where the native residents of central Rome were resettled after their apartments, shops, and stores were erased from the city, making way for the huge Piazza Venezia.
And if in the 1920s-1930s the residents of the first houses used to go to public baths on Sundays with a fibrous suitcase across their shoulders, nowadays this district has turned into one of the most picturesque and non-touristic corners of Rome. Time seems to have stopped here, preserving huge colorful flower beds hidden in the huge wells-courtyards of the Mussolini era. Housewives still hang laundry on the streets on weekends, and small trattorias stubbornly refuse to change and adapt to modern Rome.
Program
During our walk, we will peek into the most interesting courtyards, stroll along the famous road where the 20-kilometer path of pilgrims to the seven main churches of Rome passed, definitely take photos of modern graffiti, and drink water from the luck-bringing Carlotta fountain.
We will end our journey in one of the authentic trattorias of this district. During the walk, for a moment, you will feel like we are not in Rome but in a small village where time froze 50 years ago, and we will definitely capture this moment for your photo album.
After the walk, you will receive 10 processed photos ready for printing.
