Program
First of all, we go to Klaipeda: from Palanga to Klaipeda it's a stone's throw away. The old town of Klaipeda is famous for its German, or rather East Prussian architecture and its typically port elegant nature. After walking around the city, we take a ferry and head to one of the most beautiful places in Europe - the Curonian Spit. As soon as we step ashore, we immediately find ourselves in a real fairy tale. From the height of the dunes, a breathtaking panorama opens up, more reminiscent of a dream setting than reality.
Back on the mainland, we arrive in Kaunas via the fast highway, the temporary capital of Lithuania. The city lies at the confluence of our largest rivers - the Nemunas and the Neris. The old town is built in the Hanseatic tradition - with the town hall in the center and geometrically divided blocks around it. Today the city center is defined by the main axis - Laisves Aleja (Freedom Avenue). After a walk around Kaunas, on the same A1 highway that crosses the whole of Lithuania, we arrive in Vilnius.
Before spending the night (the city has an abundance of exquisite apartments, but finding a decent and inexpensive hotel is not difficult) in the capital, we stroll through the night streets, shaking off road fatigue and popping into numerous bars (by the way, during the trip the guide lives and dines at their own expense).
We start the morning tour with the streets of the old town. The panorama of the capital will open up from the hill of Gediminas Castle - the Grand Duke of Lithuania and the founder of the city. Enjoying the slender Gothic architecture predominant in the urban ensemble, the lavish Baroque style, and the strict Renaissance, we head to the modern part of Vilnius. We will visit Gediminas Avenue - the official street of the capital, the business center of the city - Constitution Avenue. We will visit the bohemian republic of Uzupis...
From Vilnius to Trakai is a half-hour drive. Trakai is the ancient capital of a once great state, currently a small cozy town, picturesquely bordered by lakes. The magnificent Gothic castle on the island, the church of Vytautas, the Uzutrakis palace - are just some of the sights of the 'Lithuanian Venice'.
We return to Palanga on another picturesque road parallel to the Nemunas River. The Nemunas once divided Lithuania and the Teutonic Order's territories. The valley of the river is permeated with the blood of a 200-year struggle with the knight monks, as evidenced by the castles on both sides of the Nemunas and numerous legends.
For tourists with children, a program is provided that includes visiting the Dinosaur Park near Klaipeda, the Serengeti Park in Vilnius, and more.
