About this experience
Procida is not as popular as other islands in the Bay of Naples, which allowed it to preserve its authenticity. It will conquer you with its unhurried pace, silence, and friendly locals. And also with its colorful houses, churches, fortress, and magnificent nature: bays, coves, and tuff cliffs. I will show you all the highlights, share interesting stories and legends.
What to expect
Fishing village Corricella
We will stroll among the fishing boats and colorful houses of Corricella - the oldest settlement of Procida. Located in the form of an amphitheater on the seafront, it resembles a charming Christmas nativity scene. You will admire colorful arches, domes, windows, steps, loggias, and stairs. If you wish, complement your experience with dishes of fresh fish and refreshing lemonade.
Procida through the centuries
Like the neighboring islands of the bay, Procida is famous for its rich history. You will climb to the medieval village Terra Murata located on a cliff. It was here that the islanders hid during the raids of the Saracen pirates. I will show you the Palace of d'Avalos and tell you how it became a prison. You will also see ancient churches and the abbey of St. Michael.
Inspirational Procida
Procida is associated with the names of many famous writers and directors. For example, the French writer Alphonse de Lamartine fell in love with a local girl and wrote the novel "Graziella" dedicated to her in 1811. The British director Michael Radford filmed several scenes of the movie "The Postman" here. Who else was inspired by this fairy-tale island - you will find out on the tour!
