About this experience
I invite you to a one-day journey to places sung by Homer many centuries ago. To begin with, we will get acquainted with the ancient settlement of sea robbers: looking at the ruins of buildings and houses, we will let our imagination do its work. Then we will head to a secluded beach, where we will swim to our heart's content (possibly in the company of cute little fish). And in conclusion, we will climb Mount Yanartas - to the mystical fiery tongues of the Chimera.
What to expect
We will visit one of the cities of your choice.
Ancient city of Olympos: mysteries of antiquity
We will leave the city and head to the first stop on our route: the city of Olympos. It is said that the settlement was founded by sea robbers - they were attracted by secluded bays scattered along the coast of the sea. In addition, the coast itself is surrounded by inaccessible cliffs with numerous caves - there is a place to hide.
Well, we will enjoy the sea landscapes and, walking along the ruins of ancient houses and peeking into the real Roman baths and necropolis, we will imagine how life boiled here many centuries ago.
Olympos Beach
Of course, we cannot miss one of the local beaches. The place we will visit is to the liking of sea turtles - they choose it for nesting. In the warm season, you can snorkel and swim with curious fish here.
Ancient Phaselis: history and nature
An alternative start to our trip - Phaselis, an ancient city founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from the island of Rhodes. You will explore the ruins of trade squares, appreciate the ancient amphitheater, and find the gymnasium and Roman baths. In addition, you will admire the pine forest, bathe in the local beach with clean and transparent water, and observe shoals of small fish near the coast. And we will tell you about the ups and downs of Phaselis and the famous personalities who shaped its history.
Mythical bonfires of Mount Yanartas
And the quintessence of our journey is the mystical Mount Yanartas. This is one of the rare places in the world where tongues of flame erupt from the ground over the centuries. Ancient people did not know the reason for this phenomenon, so they attributed mythical properties to the bonfires. It was believed that the evil Chimera dwelt here. Shall we check?
