About this experience
We are heading to Saqqara: here is preserved the oldest stone structure in the world - the step pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser. You will not only see it, but also the artifacts found during excavations in the Imhotep Archaeological Museum. After exploring what is on the surface, we will descend underground, into the Serapeum. And we will walk through its winding passages among sarcophagi of incredible sizes.
What to expect
We depart early in the morning to have enough time for everything. On the way, we will immerse you in the history of Egypt - because very soon you will see it with your own eyes.
Step Pyramid: ascending to greatness
You will discover the secrets of the oldest pyramid in Egypt. Step by step, you will follow the path from the ground to the sky and feel the power of this iconic structure. We will tell you about the unique architecture and significance of this pyramid.
Serapeum: underground oasis of health and beauty
Then you will descend into the mysterious depths of the Serapeum - a place where the ancient Egyptians sought healing and rejuvenation. You will explore the winding underground passages where the great scholars and physicians of Ancient Egypt conducted their rituals and medical procedures. Here you will see 28 sarcophagi weighing over 100 tons each!
Imhotep Museum: the treasure trove of Saqqara
You will walk through 5 halls and examine such exhibits as painted sarcophagi from the Ptolemaic era, a statue of Djoser, ancient vessels, surgical instruments, and much more.
Organizational details
- We will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo and take you back after the tour
- The tour will be conducted by me or another guide from our team
- The duration of the tour may be shortened or extended depending on the traffic situation and the number of visitors to the sights
- Entrance tickets are paid separately: to Saqqara area - $20, to the Djoser Step Pyramid - $10, to the Serapeum - $15
- If desired, we can stop for lunch at a café or restaurant, food is paid for according to the menu
