About this experience
There are different ways to get an impression of the city: stroll through the center, drive by car, take a boat ride on the river. But you can see the whole picture at once by climbing up to the viewing platforms, where you can see the terracotta roofs, palaces, the most beautiful buildings in the center, sculptures, blooming trees, and the blue sky so well. During the walk, I will introduce you to the special Florence — magical and mysterious, gentle and heroic, full of stories and legends! And, of course, with several of the best viewing platforms.
What to Expect
- The walk will start near the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. We will talk about how one of the largest cathedrals in the world was built and its talented architects. I will reveal all the secrets of the famous dome by Filippo Brunelleschi, who presented the innovative construction project.
- We will stroll through the city's little streets, unknown even to many locals. Along the way, I will introduce you to traditional Florentine cuisine, and if desired, you can taste the famous lampredotto!
- Of course, we will not bypass Piazza della Signoria - the political heart of the city with its grand old palace and numerous sculptures, including Cellini's Perseus and Michelangelo's David copy. The walk will continue on the Ponte Vecchio bridge, offering a unique view of the city and the Arno River. Walking to the riverbank, we will pass by a square adorned with a sculptural composition by Lorenzo Bartolini dedicated to the patron Nikolai Demidov. We will pass through the Saint Minias Gate, the San Niccolo Tower, and the medieval walls completed by the architect Arnolfo di Cambio in 1333.
- After a walk through the delightful rose garden, we will proceed to the Basilica of San Minias, built on the hill of the Holy Cross at the burial place of an Armenian saint. You will learn his legend and explore the basilica — a bright example of Romanesque style with white-green marble cladding. The walk will continue at the Michelangelo Square — one of the favorite places of Florentines. On the square stands a replica of Michelangelo's famous sculpture, and you will observe Florence unfolding before you as if on a postcard.
This very emotional walk will allow you to create your unique city map exclusively from beautiful panoramic views.
