I will gladly tell you about medieval Florence, introduce you to the masterpieces of Renaissance architecture, show you the most interesting characteristic streets of the ancient city, as well as unique squares, churches, the oldest bridge over the Arno River... My tour will help you understand why Florence is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
What to Expect
You will see:
- Piazza del Duomo and the Baptistery with the gilded "Heavenly" door; the main Cathedral dedicated to Saint Virgin Mary with the magnificent dome by Filippo Brunelleschi;
- Feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages and walk in the footsteps of Dante Alighieri, the great poet and creator of the modern Italian language;
- Learn the history of Orsanmichele, a former grain market converted into a church with fourteen sculptures of saints on the facade, patrons of trade and craft corporations;
- Stroll through Republic Square, where the Roman Forum was located in antiquity; admire Piazza della Signoria and the Loggia dei Lanzi. And, of course, the most magnificent secular building - Palazzo Vecchio;
- Appreciate the beauty of the oldest bridge in the city Ponte Vecchio;
- Admire Piazza Santa Croce with the church of the same name, which preserves the memory of great geniuses such as Michelangelo, Galileo Galilei, and Machiavelli.
In an hour and a half, you will take a real journey back in time. And I will tell you about the unique architecture of Florence, about the events and people who shaped the city's destiny, and of course, I will mention quite a few amusing historical anecdotes that help understand the Italian way of life at that time.
