I will take you through the mysterious Prague streets and passages, show you bohemian literary cafes, and tell you about the main sights of the Old Town. You will learn how the young Franz grew up and studied, walk the routes of the famous writer, and most importantly, understand why Kafka called Prague "a little creature that, once it catches you in its claws, will never let you go!"
What to Expect
Following Kafka's Footsteps
You will visit the main places in Prague associated with the great writer. I will show you where Kafka lived, tell you how his unusual inner world was formed. You will learn about the writer's family history, walk the routes young Franz took to school and to the university. Along the way, we will talk about why Kafka is considered one of the greatest writers of the 20th century and the founder of a new direction in literature.
Literary Prague of the early 20th century
I will take you to Prague's literary cafes where the local bohemia once gathered. You will find out how the cultural life in Prague was at the beginning of the last century, and see the places where all the famous writers and artists of Prague liked to visit: Gashik, Mukha, Born, Mayrink, and many others.
Corners of the Old Town
We will explore the entire Old Town of Prague, walk through its main attractions, peek into the most atmospheric passages and alleys. I will tell you how the Old Town originated and evolved, what laws were in effect here, how Czechs and Germans have lived side by side here for centuries. Then you will see all of old Prague from the height of the tower and understand why poets and writers loved this magical city so much.
