About this experience
This tour will introduce you to the adventures of the famous soldier Svejk, the dynasty of Prague executioners, and the curious traditions of Czechia. We will stroll through the places in Prague linked to Hasek's novel, as well as the history of the entire country. We will discuss who invented the word 'robot' and explore the hidden corners of the city rarely visited by tourists.
What to Expect
Do you remember that wonderful literary character - Josef Svejk? Have you ever wondered where he lived before his adventures began? Where he liked to go? In what places the events of the novel took place? Where did the other characters of the novel live? Who among them had real prototypes and how did they react to becoming literary characters? And where did Hasek himself live? How were his childhood and youth? With whom and where did he socialize?
Do you remember who invented the word 'robot'? Have you ever heard of the two most famous dynasties of Prague executioners? About the specific Czech 'tradition' of defenestrations, or the 'Moderate Progress Party Within the Framework of the Law'? Remember Operation Anthropoid?
During our walk, you will be able to learn all this and see many interesting things. We will show you the Emmaus Monastery, the cathedrals of St. Ignatius, St. Stephen, St. Cyril and Methodius, St. Ludmila, the New Town Hall, a hospital that resembles a medieval Gothic fortress and is called the 'Old Castle,' and many other places that are directly related to both our heroes and very interesting and significant events in Czech history.
And, of course, we will show you many secluded corners of Prague that you are unlikely to visit on your own, as they are off the tourist routes.
