What to Expect
Postcard Views and City Symbols
Begin to be charmed by Lisbon at the Eduardo VII viewpoint, taking a bird's eye view of the oldest neighborhoods of the Portuguese capital and the sparkling River Tagus. Get to know the city closer as we walk down Avenida da Liberdade past a row of world-renowned brand stores, stroll through medieval Baixa and Augusta pedestrian street, admire the French fountains in Rossio Square, and visit Commerce Square.
Colorful Alleys of Alfama
Where else to understand the spirit of Lisbon than in Alfama - an ancient fishing district where every building, lined with azulejos tiles, looks different from its neighbor. Walk through narrow streets past the Cathedral and climb to the highest point of the city - Graça viewpoint, where you can see the Castle of Saint George and the 25th of April Bridge, a sibling of the famous bridge in San Francisco.
The Singing Soul of Lisbon
At the Fado Museum, you will hear the sounds that permeate the old neighborhoods of Lisbon: the melodies of traditional Portuguese romances. By listening to fado, you can feel the power of Portuguese love and sadness and understand the local culture, even if you don't speak Portuguese. And I will tell you about the origin of fado, its history, genre specifics, and modern life.
The Spirit of Navigators and the Best Pastéis de Nata
Once in Belém, you will encounter two of the Seven Wonders of Portugal - the Belém Tower and the stunningly beautiful Jerónimos Monastery, where the remains of navigator Vasco da Gama, romantic poet Luís de Camões, and representatives of the Aviz royal dynasty rest. Then we will pass by the Monument to the Discoveries, where you can cross the whole world without even noticing. And after that, to 'taste Lisbon,' we can visit the birthplace of popular Portuguese pastries 'pastéis de nata,' the recipe of which has been kept a strict secret for two centuries.
