About this experience
You will enjoy a walk through the most aesthetic places of Sololaki district with a visit to mansions from the early 20th century. You will explore the grand interiors and learn their hidden secrets. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee in a cafe hidden in a vintage apartment. Feel the spirit of rich past intertwined with modernity and, of course, take atmospheric photos.
What to expect
- Italian villa, named so due to its luxurious facade with arches and columns. Inside, there is a shop with vintage jewelry, clothing, and an incredibly photogenic terrace.
- House of Writers – the former mansion of David Sarajishvili. Inside hides a cozy restaurant courtyard and mosaic tiles reminiscent of the Titanic.
- Kalantarov’s grand mansion – one of the most impressive mansions in the area.
- Ter-Akopova profitable house, featuring painted ceilings. Inside, there is a wine bar and a café where we can relax and feel like guests of the hostess of a bygone era.
- Former Embassy of Estonia with an intricate staircase.
- House of the Seylan brothers. Inside, a painting gallery is hidden in the grand hall.
- Gudiashvili Square. Here is the house where Lermontov lived during his military service.
- Priest's grand mansion. The ceiling and walls of this grand hall are covered with unusual paintings.
- Bethlehem viewing platform – one of the coziest observation decks where we will see the central part of Tbilisi.
- Traditional bakeries offering Georgian shoti bread and modern ones with croissants.
- “Tbilisi Hogwarts” – a middle school, formerly a boarding house for noble girls, built in a Gothic style.
Along the way, I will take photos of you on the phone in the most beautiful urban settings.
More than just a walk
I will tell you about the life in Tbilisi at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th centuries, about the secrets and legends shrouding the luxurious family mansions of that time. You will learn about the noble people who lived in the Sololaki district, what they did, and what they contributed to the city and the country. We will also discuss what has changed since then and what trends are making a comeback.
