About this experience
I invite travelers of all ages and any physical fitness level to an easy and picturesque hiking tour! It will take place on a flat forest road and will not require much effort - while rewarding you with splendid panoramas. You will admire areas of Rio from a height of 700 meters, the ocean, mountains, and the legendary statue of Christ in the distance. Along the way, I will gladly tell you about my favorite city and its nature.
What to expect
You will walk through the territory of Tijuca National Park - one of the largest urban green areas in the world. The ascent to Pedra Bonita mountain will take about half an hour and is suitable even for the least prepared for hiking. The views from the top are incredible: overlooking the neighborhoods of Leblon and Ipanema, the Dois Irmaos rock formation, and the statue of Christ. And almost within reach, you will see the gigantic Pedra da Gavea mountain - the tallest monolith in the world on the ocean coast. During the walk, I will tell you:
- The significance of the park in preserving Brazil's biodiversity
- How Pedra Bonita was formed and approximately how old it is
- How it influences the landscape and climate of Rio
- Why the neighboring mountain became the subject of speculation and legends
And other interesting facts!
