About this experience
Derbent is a unique city with a mesmerizing atmosphere. You will walk through its winding narrow streets and climb the mighty fortress of Naryn-kala. You'll visit the 'House of Peter I', walk on the Crystal Bridge, and admire the modern music and light fountain. You will also see the Soviet Lun Ekranoplan and, if desired, swim in the Caspian Sea.
What to expect
Enchanting Dagestan
You will see all the main attractions of Derbent and the nearby Lun Ekranoplan. The tour program includes:
- Citadel Naryn-kala - you will walk through the ancient fortress with its majestic towers and gates. Immerse yourself in its 1500-year history and learn how successfully it defended the city.
- Juma Mosque - one of the oldest mosques in the world. You will decipher its architectural features and learn about the role of religion in modern Dagestan.
- Museum 'House of Peter I' - you will visit the place where the king stayed during the Persian campaign of 1722. And I will share details of this event.
- Nizami Ganjavi Park - we will walk through its well-kept territory and evaluate the largest musical fountain in Russia.
- Crystal Bridge - you will walk on the modern glass bridge and examine archaeological artifacts from the 10th century. Among them: steles with texts in Arabic and remains of a water supply system.
- Lun Ekranoplan - a Soviet missile carrier, picturesquely located on the shore of the Caspian Sea. I will reveal the history of its creation and other interesting facts.
Organizational details
- Included in the price: transport and visit to the Ekranoplan 'Lun'
- Entrance tickets are paid separately: Naryn-kala fortress - 200 rubles for adults, 100 rubles for children, 'House of Peter I' museum - 150 rubles per person.
- On Fridays, the Juma Mosque is closed for visits, but we will walk through the old streets of the ancient city and admire the mosque from the outside.
- Women need to have a scarf with them to enter the Juma Mosque. Tight-fitting and revealing clothes are also not welcomed (applies only to the mosque).
- Upon request before departure to Derbent, we can visit the main observation platforms of Makhachkala.
- Note: the musical fountain is turned on on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 19:30 to 21:00, the laser show takes place only on weekends at 19:30. If you want to wait for the fountain to be turned on, the extra charge for the tour will be 1000 rubles.
- For an additional fee, a 1.5-hour tour of the Derbent winery can be organized - 1200 rubles per person. Since the number of places is limited, it is necessary to book the tour as early as possible. Inform the guide in your correspondence if you want to visit the winery. The tour is available to travelers aged 14 and over.
