About this experience
You are in for a rich and diverse 8-hour experience! Places from Greek myths, the seaside, monasteries with great sanctuaries, mountain villages, panoramas from Olympus - you will tour the entire island, immerse yourself in its past, and learn about the present without dry templates. The day will be complemented by getting to know the local cuisine and wines.
What to expect
Tracing history and myths
You will admire the coastal and mountain landscapes, while we will tell you about the past of Cyprus. You will understand the historical 'layered pie' from deep antiquity to the division of Cyprus. No boring dates or lectures, but with myths, legends, and interweaving of history and religion. Following the 'living' myths, we will journey along the coast to learn why the goddess of love Aphrodite emerged from the sea foam off the shores of Cyprus. In addition, we will take you to Mount Olympus, the highest point on the island. The silence and clean air will complement the delight of the breathtaking views.
Mountain villages and Cypriot life
Troodos Mountains is a must-see in Cyprus, but even here we will avoid guidebook clichés. The pre-mountain village of Lefkara surrounded by white cliffs will charm you with its friendly residents, splendid silver handiworks, and famous lace. Here, even the decorations on balconies and doors facing charming streets repeat the intricate patterns of Lefkara's craftswomen. We will observe how priceless lace is woven, the beauty of which legends are told, see how jewelers work, and talk about what they yearn for. And we will also see the mystical Berenaria Hotel.
High in the mountains, we will visit a Non-traditional Cypriot tavern, which is hard to call just a tavern because it stands out with exquisite cuisine and a unique interior with a mystery, but the best Cypriot meze on the island is here!
Cyprus and faith
Getting to know the island is impossible without monasteries, sanctuaries, and churches. In Lefkara, you will visit the Church of the Holy Cross, where a part of the Life-Giving Cross and Holy Chains are kept. Also on the program is the amazing XV century Church of Archangel Michael listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will see its beautifully preserved frescoes from 1474 and stroll through the cozy picturesque streets. And if time allows, we will also visit the neighboring village of Mutullas, where in the 13th-century church, you will touch the carved gates, a rare example of the late Byzantine period.
