About this experience
Just 25 kilometers from Eilat lie magnificent canyons in the Arava Desert, where King Solomon's spears were once located. Join me on a journey to these places: you will see incredible cliffs of white and red sandstone, hear stories from centuries past, and learn how the spears are connected to events that shaped the fate of the entire country. Afterwards, relax by the Timna Lake and taste oriental coffee in a Bedouin tent.
What to Expect
Timna Park is a valley surrounded by colorful sheer cliffs from different historical periods, sometimes reaching heights of up to 850 meters. Timna is the only place on earth where the unique semi-precious stone, the "Eilat Stone", was found. I will tell you about this rock, its dramatic history, how King Solomon mined this stone here and filled the treasury.
We will see incredible views, cliffs of white and red sandstone, granite arches and canyons, herds of deer and mountain goats. We will also visit the temple of Timna, dedicated to the goddess Hathor. We will climb the ancient stairs up the mountain and descent through a magnificent viewpoint directly into the excavations of the temple.
Timna Lake is a separate entertainment. Children can swim in pedal boats, parents can visit "Nehushtimna", where they demonstrate the making of copper and minting copper coins from the time of King Solomon, or visit a Bedouin tent where you will be offered oriental coffee.
There are many hiking trails in the park of geological and historical significance, but you can take a jeep ride, and this trip among the Pillars of Solomon, through the Pink Canyon and Smelting Camps will be one of the most vivid impressions of Eilat. You can also book a camel ride in the park. We will definitely admire the ancient rock art.
