About this experience
Saint-Germain is a city within a city where a special charm reigns and time slows down. Here, history, literature, painting, music, and science are closely intertwined and harmoniously coexist. You will walk through the streets of the district and see the famous cafes where Sartre and Picasso used to visit. You will learn whether Guillotin died because of his invention and why Rodin was not accepted to the School of Fine Arts.
What to expect
You will see the famous Café de Flore and Deux Magots - symbols of the Parisian bohemia. You will look at the School of Fine Arts, where Delacroix studied and where the father of Impressionist sculpture was not admitted. You will admire the majestic architecture of the Institut de France, the covered passage of Saint-Andre, Le Procope cafe, and the Church of Saint-Sulpice. And you will learn:
- Why jazz is the melody of the Saint-Germain district
- Whether there is a prime meridian in Paris
- Where D'Artagnan lived
- What Dan Brown came up with in the book "The Da Vinci Code" and why we believe him
- Whether Guillotin was beheaded by his own invention
I will tell the history of the district and show hidden courtyards, cozy squares, and ancient buildings. I will share facts about the traditions and habits of Parisians. And if you wish, you can sit down at one of the cafes for a cup of coffee and feel the local atmosphere.
