About this experience
Are you ready to immerse yourself in the artistic atmosphere of Milan? We will leisurely stroll through the ancient streets of Brera, peek into secret courtyards and gardens, follow in the footsteps of Mozart and Hemingway, discuss the masterpieces of the Pinacoteca, and talk about the curious stories of the bohemian quarter where the spirit of art lingers in the air.
What to expect
Legends and stories of Brera
Among the narrow cobblestone streets and blooming balconies, you will dive headfirst into the atmosphere of the artist's quarter. On a small square, we will enter the church to admire the magnificent frescoes and the organ played by a young Mozart. We will stroll past buildings that housed the most famous brothels in Milan: I will tell you how a prostitute from Brera stopped Barbarossa's army in an extravagant way. In a secret garden, we will marvel at the ‘married couple’ dating back three centuries, and we will visit a cafe frequented by Hemingway and where Mussolini once owed money for coffee.
About the masterpieces and secrets of the Pinacoteca
Of course, we cannot overlook Milan's most famous art gallery. You will learn how a naked Napoleon appeared in the courtyard of the Brera Academy and his connection to Raphael's masterpiece in the Pinacoteca. You will also discover one of Italy's most beautiful and ancient libraries, an astronomy museum, and other colorful spots, as Brera is also a quarter of bars, curious shops, and cozy trattorias.
We will say goodbye at the doors of the Brera Pinacoteca, and as a parting gift, I will give you my author's mini-guide to the museum's masterpieces - so after the tour, you can visit it on your own.
