About this experience
I will tell you how Carouge appeared on the map of Switzerland, and show its wonderful squares, workshops, one-story houses, secret gardens, and Masonic fountains. I will also share the history of its competition with Geneva and explain why Lenin chose Carouge for evening meetings with colleagues.
What to expect
Carouge - past and present
You will see all the main attractions of the Carouge district: the eponymous bridge, the Arve riverside, Rue Saint-Joseph, tower houses, the Church of the Holy Cross, the Town Hall, and the Round Square. You will also admire the charming one-story houses on Old Street, hear the story of the mysterious fountain in Market Square, and discover the secret park in Triangle Square.
Carouge from the inside
Along the way, we will encounter hundreds of different workshops: from jewelers to chocolatiers. The list will also include shoemakers, potters, tailors, and carpenters! Today, Carouge is an ultra-fashionable district with its own brewery, wedding dress tailoring, musical instrument workshop, galleries, and a faience factory. I will tell you about local crafts and suggest what you can buy with the 'Made in Carouge' logo, where to go after the tour, and how to spend your free time here.
