About this experience
On my tour, you will walk through one of Switzerland's main 'brands' - the historic center of Zurich. Guided by a looped route, I will take you to the city's iconic spots, telling you about Charlemagne, national gastronomy, Swiss social gatherings, and the free-spirited nature of the 'mountaineers'. After my tour in Zurich, you will get to know all of Switzerland!
What to Expect
Main Sights of the City
During the walk, you will encounter the main landmarks of Zurich, which has evolved over two millennia from a Roman customs point into an aristocratic European city. You will stroll along the world's most expensive street, Bahnhofstrasse, check your watch against the largest clocks in Europe, see two of Zurich's symbols - Grossmünster and Fraumünster churches - and learn about their turbulent history and role in the city's development. Through the intricate alleys and lanes of Old Zurich, we will reach the Limmat river promenade, offering a wonderful view of Lake Zurich and the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. We will definitely climb to a viewing platform and 'visit' Einstein (where would we be without him:). City panoramas will be accompanied by legends of Charlemagne and other Zurich personalities (sometimes quite extraordinary). And if time allows - we'll have a cup of hot chocolate with a delicate pastry at the famous Confiserie Sprüngli: believe me, they know a thing or two about the confectionary art there, as they have been doing it for over 160 years!
What is Switzerland
You will not only delve into the history and legends of the city but also discover what Swiss mentality is and which national traits and habits have helped the inhabitants of the Confederation turn their country from the poorest in Europe into a stronghold of prosperity and well-being. I will tell you what 'proud mountaineers' do in their free time, how they treat foreigners, and why any local will be offended (and rightfully so!) if called a 'German'. During the Zurich walk, I will share not only interesting facts about the city and the country as a whole but also advise you on where and what local dishes to try, what souvenirs to buy, and how to navigate the diversity of famous Swiss cheeses.
