About this experience
Costanera Sur is a magnificent reserve just a few blocks from the center of Buenos Aires. It is perfect for disconnecting from the city noise, connecting with nature, and observing birds. You will learn how to use a monocular or binoculars, receive a unique checklist of birds inhabiting the park, and go on a birdwatching adventure with me!
What to Expect
Observing the Residents of the Reserve
Armed with binoculars, a simple pencil, and a prepared checklist, we will explore the reserve. You will learn to recognize dozens of bird species. Some live in the trees, some in the park's water bodies, and others visit during migration periods. You will see predators and waterfowl, admire parrots and woodpeckers. You will learn about Argentina's national bird - the rufous hornero - and understand the different types of tyrants. If you're lucky, you might encounter herons, macaws, the red-crested cardinal, and rufous-collared sparrow - especially in the mornings and evenings.
Spicing up Birdwatching
I will share fascinating facts about the feathered residents, talk about migratory bird routes and destinations, as well as the work of ornithologists. I'll explain how to help birds and what to do if you find a fallen nestling. We'll also look at birdwatching as a modern hobby, spiritual practice, and scientific research.
