Our region is famous for picturesque mountains, lakes, and waterfalls formed by tectonic shifts. For hiking enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking personal challenges, we invite you to visit Big Almaty Lake. Along the way, you will absorb the beauty of our nature and landscapes, and upon reaching the destination, you can relax by the shore, enjoy the views, and capture beautiful moments.
What to Expect
๐ท Big Almaty Lake is located near the city. We will meet in the center of Almaty and head to the eco post, from where the trekking will begin.
๐ท You will enjoy panoramas of the Zailiysky Alatau mountains and get acquainted with the local flora and fauna. The one-way journey will take 2.5-4 hours, depending on your physical fitness level.
๐ท Upon reaching the lake, situated at an altitude of 2511 m above sea level, you will be greeted by fantastic views of the surroundings. You can have a friendly picnic and relax by the shore before we start the return journey.
Organizational Details
- Transport to the eco post, eco fees, and full guidance by a guide are included in the program cost
- The remaining cost of the excursion is to be paid on the day of the event in tenge only. The tenge amount is fixed according to the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan's current exchange rate on the day of order confirmation, and we will inform you of it in our correspondence.
- Upon request, we can arrange an excursion on electric bicycles for an additional fee of 5000 rubles per rental.
- Please inquire about the possibility of trekking on weekdays by messaging the guide.
Trekking Experience
- The trail is of moderate difficulty and will take 4 hours round trip. We will cover 14 km, so prepare yourself accordingly. Children from 12 years old can join.
- I or another guide from our team will accompany you on the trek.
What to Wear and Bring
- The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Dress warmly with thermal layers.
- It is important to wear trekking shoes with thick soles. If your shoes are not suitable for trekking, crampons are necessary.
- If you are not used to long walks, bring trekking poles.
Winter Attire:
โ Insulated trekking boots with a rigid sole and high shaft;
bahili snow gaiters;
โ Thick warm socks, gaiters/thermal wear;
โ Thermal wear, turtleneck/t-shirt;
โ Fleece jacket;
โ Ski jacket (with a warm base);
โ Down vest/jacket;
โ Scarf/buff;
โ Headgear (hat);
โ Gloves, mittens;
โ Sunglasses (necessary as the snow can be blinding)
Additional Useful Items:
