About this experience
Lebanon is a small but incredibly interesting country. You will explore the colorful Beirut, often called the 'Switzerland of the Middle East', stroll through the medieval center of Byblos, and take a boat ride on an underground river in the Jeita Grotto caves. I will tell you interesting facts about Lebanese traditions, history, architecture, nature, and mentality.
What to expect
Contrasts of Beirut
You will see how modern skyscrapers of Lebanon's capital coexist with traditional stone houses of the old city. Walk through the ruins of Roman baths, visit the Orthodox Cathedral of St. George and the Al-Amin Mosque. Additionally, we will drive past government buildings and make a stop at the memorial complex on the Dog River.
Jeita Grotto Caves
This complex of two caves is located 20 km away from Beirut. It is known for the largest stalactites and stalagmites in the Middle East. You will glide on a boat on an underground river and admire the surrounding treasures. After that, we will ascend the nearby Harissa mountain: enjoy magnificent views and see the famous statue of the Virgin Mary.
Ancient City of Byblos
Today's Byblos is a thriving city with glass office buildings and bustling streets. To feel the spirit of the past, we will head to the old quarters. Stroll through winding alleys, see fortresses, Byzantine churches, a Roman theater, Crusader castle, and huts dating back 9000 years. I will reveal why Byblos is called the 'cradle of the alphabet' and share the Phoenician legends associated with it.
