About this experience
Vincent Van Gogh went to Arles for inspiration. And he found it: the time spent in the picturesque French city became the most fruitful period in the artist's work. On a walk through the places where Van Gogh lived and worked, you will admire the 'live' canvases and even draw yourself. And I promise an exciting story about the life and work of a genius.
What to expect
'Follow' to the places where the artist lived and worked
Strolling through the cozy Provencal streets in the shade of plane trees, you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere in which Van Gogh created. 'In my house I can really live, breathe, think and work,' he wrote. You will see the place where this house was located, and the cafe where the artist liked to visit. You will walk along the embankment where Van Gogh walked in search of inspiration and subjects, peek into the city park, and the courtyard of the hospital where the artist was during his attacks.
'See' the 'frozen' canvases
Many buildings, streets, parks, and the embankment have remained the same as Van Gogh captured them. Only the life of the townspeople has changed and the trees have grown taller. The same air, the same Mistral wind (which once prevented the artist from painting in the open field), and the same cicadas that delight with their singing every summer. You will easily recognize the famous paintings in the city outlines - reproductions that I will have with me will help.
'Draw', because nothing is impossible
Van Gogh taught himself to draw from the manual he borrowed from the library, developing his talent. And you can do the same on this walk! You will arm yourself with the sunflowers that the artist used during his time in Arles, and you will color several coloring pages based on Van Gogh's works 'from life' - I am sure they will inspire you!
