About this experience
The Romans knew how to entertain - hardly anyone would argue with that. It seems that all modern show business originated there, in the era of chariots and gladiators. And I will prove it to you! We will take a stroll through the ancient corners of the Eternal City, discuss the leisure of ancient plebeians and aristocrats. And we will figure out what “Discovery”, “Pop Idol”, and “Netflix” looked like a couple of thousand years ago.
What to Expect
How did the Roman unemployed proletariat spend their free time? And how did the local aristocracy entertain themselves? You will learn all about the refined and not-so-refined leisure of ancient Romans. The program includes:
- Idols and sex symbols of the Caesar era
- Ancient “Pop Idol”, talk show “Great Washing” and Netflix
- Blockbusters and special effects in ancient Roman style
- The ancient equivalent of the big screen and “Formula-1” races in the Eternal City
- Match “Christians vs Lions, score 0-5”
- The oldest channels “Discovery” and “Soviet Sport”
- Historical sagas and striptease
- And also action, horror, scandals, and investigations!
Places of Former Glory. We start from the Circus Maximus - the patriarch of Roman spectacles. We will continue along the route: Colosseum, Roman and Imperial Forums, Capitoline Hill, Theatre of Marcellus, Piazza Navona. In short, we will not overlook any of the iconic entertainment venues.
I have prepared video and photo materials for the walk, which will help recreate the atmosphere and grandeur of the Roman entertainment industry.
