About this experience
We will depart from Antalya to the small town of Demre, where many interesting events have taken place over the centuries. You will visit the church dedicated to him, see the grand amphitheater, and unravel the secrets of the rock-cut tombs.
What to Expect
Journey into antiquity
You'll stroll through the ruins of the ancient city of Myra, admire the magnificent Lycian rock tombs, and the Greco-Roman theater that accommodated 10,000 spectators. I will also help you delve into the rich history of the city: from its founding, through its heyday, to its decline.
The story of Nicholas of Myra
The Church of St. Nicholas is a major landmark in the vicinity of Myra. You'll marvel at the ancient frescoes and examine the sarcophagus where the saint's relics were kept until the 11th century. I will decode the ornamentation on the floor and the playing cards motifs on the temple walls. I'll show you the fresco of the 'Last Supper' and help you locate the image of Judas Iscariot.
