About this experience
Amsterdam is a string of associations: drugs, prostitution, bicycles, canals. Or in a different order. You will definitely visit the famous museums, but in this rebellious city, you will be drawn to where the lively music, neon lights of bars, the smell of marijuana, and partying till morning. Get ready to explore the Red Light District on this exciting and safe journey!
What to expect
The district itself
You will take a walk through the most secluded places of Amsterdam with a knowledgeable and experienced guide. I will introduce you to the diverse life of the oldest, but always young and contradictory area. From coffee shops to sex theaters and fetish stores - you will learn about the myths and realities of the Red Light District and hear what locals think about it. We will peek behind the scenes and visit the legendary "Peep Show," and also discover the second, non-touristic Red Light District.
The laws themselves
Everyone knows that Amsterdam has liberal laws regarding drug use. During the tour, you will understand how they came about, debunk myths about them, and see several famous "coffee shops." Besides drugs, Amsterdam is the principle of "live and let live": the Netherlands was the first country in the world to recognize marriage equality, and the first same-sex wedding took place in Amsterdam.
Alternative accommodation and transport
Amsterdam's floating houses are located along the canals - you don't need to look far to find them in the city. I will tell you about their emergence as a result of the housing crisis. As well as how the White Bicycle Plan was developed to provide everyone access to this convenient mode of transport and combat pollution.
