About this experience
An evening in Alhambra - the palace and garden complex of the Moorish emirs - will immerse you in a mystical atmosphere and the Arab history of Granada. The evening visit will allow you to explore one of the wonders of the complex (of your choice): the magnificent interiors of the Palaces with Arabic filigree and plasterwork or the labyrinthine gardens created in the image of paradise from the Quran. In any case, I will tell you about the origin and development of Alhambra, the architectural features, and the symbolism of the structures.
What to Expect
History and architecture of the earthly paradise of the Moorish emirs
You will explore the residence of the Eastern conquerors, built by their orders on conquered lands. Here, in the Red Castle on a rocky plateau, you will delve into the history of the Nasrid dynasty's rule in the Granada Emirate. I will tell you about the structure of the palace and garden complex of Alhambra, the symbolism of numerous transitions and towers, and the architectural features of each individual building. Additionally, from the plateau's height, you will see the typical Arab quarter Albaicin and the gypsy neighborhood - Sacromonte.
Luxurious palace interiors or a stroll through the gardens
Unfortunately, the Alhambra complex is not open all night, so during the evening visit, you will have time to see the palaces or gardens (your choice).
- The Nasrid Palaces - three ensembles of Arabic architecture await you: Mexuar, Comares, and the Halls of the Lions. You will examine the details of their luxurious interiors: plasterwork, tiles, Arabic filigree, marble columns, and capitals - I will help draw attention to the significant details. Additionally, you will encounter the Renaissance Palace of Charles V on the way, sharply contrasting with the Moorish structures.
- Generalife Gardens - during a walk through the wonder of landscape design, you will admire the fountains and learn about the recreated images of paradise from the Quran in the garden. By the Court of the Irrigation Canal, you will emerge at the Romantic Mirador - from this viewpoint, you will have views of the evening Alhambra.
